Turning Ice / Mirror Freeze
Tiltrenne
See you next spring. In thirty years.
An extreme axial tilt gives Tiltrenne seasons that last decades. Lakes freeze into mirrors, vanish, and return generations later. Villages migrate on sleds with the seasons.
Promises here are very long-term.
Tiltrenne leans so far over that each season lasts decades. In the long winter, the lakes freeze into perfect mirrors, smooth enough that standing on one feels like standing in space. In the long summer, they melt away entirely, and a whole generation grows up never having seen them.
As the seasons turn, the ice groans and shifts, cracking in long musical lines that echo for kilometres. Grandparents tell grandchildren what the lakes looked like, and the grandchildren skate on them thirty years later and finally understand.

A Very Long Spring
The crew agree to deliver something to Tiltrenne 'next spring'. Next spring is decades away. Zamfyr refuses to break a promise.
Something under the ice is copying the crew's reflections. Then it starts copying the Wobblenaut.
Earthward stakes
The package is seeds for an Earth seed vault, which can't wait thirty years.
Science inspiration
Axial tilt driving seasons is real. A tilt this extreme and its biosphere are imagined.
