Skeevly Grimlash

Galactic menace. Master of disguise. Possibly imaginary. If someone is tied to an improbable set of railway tracks, he did it.

Mystery

Skeevly Grimlash is the galaxy's most theatrical villain: elusive, extravagant and deeply impressed with himself. His crimes are legendary, his schemes are needlessly elaborate, and nobody can agree on what he looks like or whether he exists at all.

His calling card is the oldest trick in the villain handbook: an unlucky captive tied to the tracks of a maglev, a mining tram or a monorail. Zamfyr and Onobo always make the rescue just in time. That is usually exactly what Grimlash wants.

01

The distraction is the plan

While Zamfyr stages a daring rescue and Onobo frantically disables the oncoming train, Grimlash quietly walks off with whatever artifact, treasure or mysterious object he was really after.

By the time the Space Buds realise they've been fooled, he's several systems away. Or he was never there at all.

Whenever somebody is tied to an improbably placed set of tracks, Zamfyr knows exactly whom to blame.

02

Who is he, really?

Witnesses describe a sinister gentleman with an extravagant moustache. Others recall a grotesque alien, a cloaked figure or an ordinary Kye behaving very suspiciously.

Some believe he's a single Qu'ah who has worn countless faces. Others think many unrelated Qu'ah have borrowed the name, turning him into a shared criminal persona. A few scholars insist he's entirely fictional. Zamfyr finds all of these theories deeply irritating.

03

The tracks get stranger

A high-speed magnetic railway. A transit line that hasn't run in centuries. On one farm world with no public transport at all, he reportedly built a whole miniature railway just to complete the arrangement.

The joke is less about the danger and more about the ridiculous lengths he'll go to for a dramatic distraction.

Development note

No single depiction of Grimlash is treated as the real one. His look shifts slightly between appearances on purpose.
