The Hushari
A whisper-quiet people with huge, delicate ears. To the Hushari, your polite hello is a scream.
ConfirmedThe Hushari hear the faintest vibrations, so their whole civilisation is built around silence. They talk in whispers, tiny pitch changes and gestures most species can't even notice.
Their cities are padded, ribbed and soundproofed, and their trams glide without a hum. Visitors are expected to keep strict acoustic etiquette. An ordinary spaceship landing nearby counts as a citywide emergency.
01
A civilisation of silence
Hushari cities are covered in sound-absorbing domes and padded spires, and their transport makes no noise. Their language is whispers, pitch, vibration and tiny gestures that other species struggle to even notice.
Whisper. No, quieter. No, quieter than that.
02
Acoustic etiquette
A normal greeting sounds like shouting to the Hushari, and a landing spaceship is a disaster for the whole settlement. Visitors are expected to follow strict rules of quiet behaviour, which the Wobblenaut is not built for.
Signature gag: a Hushari recoils in horror from a sound nobody else can hear.
03
The squeak
The Wobblenaut once caused a diplomatic incident because one of Onobo's vents had developed a tiny squeak. Zamfyr tried to apologise in a whisper and accidentally switched on the ship's external loudspeaker. Onobo's fix, an acoustic dampener built from garden-dome moss, is now a Hushari tourist attraction.
